Blackout Contacts

Standard delivery: 12–20 days.

A blackout lens fills the iris with solid opaque black — no pattern, no colour, just a void where your eye used to be. It is the strongest single-colour costume effect available, and because nothing shows through it works identically on every natural eye colour. Dark brown, hazel, blue: the result is the same.

How much can you see? Partially. The centre of the lens keeps a clear optical zone, but a full blackout print cuts the light reaching your eye and narrows what you catch at the edges. Wear them for short stretches, in good light, and never for driving.

Beyond plain blackout. This range also covers the black costume family more broadly — black sclera for full-eye coverage, spider web and cross prints for a graphic gothic look, and black small-pupil designs that shrink the pupil into a pinpoint for an unsettling, doll-like stare.

Prescription options. Where a design offers powers, the range runs from 0.00 down to −8.00 — check the Power dropdown on the product page. Mojosee lenses are not toric and do not provide CYL or AXIS correction. If your eye-care professional approves a spherical-equivalent reference, use the calculator only for a design whose product page shows negative SPH values. The result does not correct astigmatism and does not apply to plano-only designs.

Safety, plainly. Coloured contact lenses are FDA-regulated medical devices, not accessories. In the US every lens — including plano 0.00 — needs a valid prescription and a professional fitting. Never share lenses, never sleep in them, and take them out if your eye stings, waters or reddens.

Black contacts: circle, small pupil, graphic rings or 22mm sclera?

A black circle lens and a 22mm black sclera lens are different products and different looks. Start with the coverage shown in the on-eye photo: a 14.5mm iris-sized circle creates a dark doll-eye effect, while the larger sclera design extends beyond the iris. A small-pupil print or white concentric rings adds another distinct graphic detail.

Big Eye Black Circle - 14.5mm

Big Eye Black Circle - 14.5mm

A black iris circle for a dark doll-eye look. This is not a 22mm full-eye sclera design. This listing is plano-only (0.00).

Black Small Pupil contacts

Black Small Pupil contacts

A black costume-eye design with a small printed pupil opening. Compare its close-up with the plain black circle. This listing offers plano and negative prescription-power options.

Black Sclera - 22mm

Black Sclera - 22mm

A larger black sclera design intended for coverage beyond the iris, shown in the product photo. It is not interchangeable with a standard iris-sized circle lens. This listing is plano-only (0.00); check the specific fitting requirements.

Black and white concentric rings

Black and white concentric rings

White concentric rings on a black iris design around the central pupil, shown in the on-eye photo. A graphic monochrome look rather than plain blackout or sclera coverage. This listing is plano-only (0.00).

Which black-eye design should I compare first?

For doll or gothic makeup, compare the iris-sized black circle and small-pupil designs. For a larger creature-eye effect, inspect the 22mm sclera photo and fit information separately. For a hypnotic or surreal look, compare the black-and-white ring pattern. Choose the actual coverage and printed design before comparing price.

Which black contacts offer prescription powers?

The Black Small Pupil listing includes selectable negative powers. The other three listings compared here are plano-only. Check the available power, pack contents and fitting requirements on each product page. For other creature-eye patterns, compare green slit-pupil and golden radial contacts; for red horror effects, compare solid red and blood-vessel designs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you see through blackout contacts?
Partially. The centre of the lens has a clear optical zone, but a full blackout print reduces the light reaching your eye and narrows your peripheral vision. They are made for short wear in good lighting and are not suitable for driving.
Do blackout contacts work on light or blue eyes?
Yes. Blackout lenses are fully opaque, so nothing of your natural colour shows through. The effect is identical on dark brown, hazel, green and blue eyes.
What is the difference between blackout and black sclera lenses?
A blackout lens covers the iris only, leaving the white of your eye visible. A black sclera lens covers the entire visible eye including the white, which produces a far more extreme, fully black look.
Are blackout contacts uncomfortable?
They are the same lens material and base curve as our other designs, so comfort is comparable. What differs is vision, not comfort: less light reaches the eye, which some people find tiring over long periods.
Can I get blackout contacts with prescription?
Where powers are offered they run from 0.00 to -8.00 - check the Power dropdown on the product page. In the US every contact lens, including plano 0.00, requires a valid prescription and a professional fitting.
When should I order blackout contacts for Halloween?
Orders are dispatched within 48 business hours and standard delivery takes about 14–20 days. Standard delivery: 12–20 days.
