Blackout Contacts

🎃 Halloween 2026: order by September 17 for standard delivery (2–4 weeks). Ordering later? The $10.99 Express upgrade at checkout covers you into mid-October.

A blackout lens fills the iris with solid opaque black — no pattern, no colour, just a void where your eye used to be. It is the strongest single-colour costume effect available, and because nothing shows through it works identically on every natural eye colour. Dark brown, hazel, blue: the result is the same.

How much can you see? Partially. The centre of the lens keeps a clear optical zone, but a full blackout print cuts the light reaching your eye and narrows what you catch at the edges. Wear them for short stretches, in good light, and never for driving.

Beyond plain blackout. This range also covers the black costume family more broadly — black sclera for full-eye coverage, spider web and cross prints for a graphic gothic look, and black small-pupil designs that shrink the pupil into a pinpoint for an unsettling, doll-like stare.

Prescription options. Where a design offers powers, the range runs from 0.00 down to −8.00 — check the Power dropdown on the product page. If your prescription includes astigmatism, our power calculator converts it to the closest stocked power.

Safety, plainly. Coloured contact lenses are FDA-regulated medical devices, not accessories. In the US every lens — including plano 0.00 — needs a valid prescription and a professional fitting. Never share lenses, never sleep in them, and take them out if your eye stings, waters or reddens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you see through blackout contacts?
Partially. The centre of the lens has a clear optical zone, but a full blackout print reduces the light reaching your eye and narrows your peripheral vision. They are made for short wear in good lighting and are not suitable for driving.
Do blackout contacts work on light or blue eyes?
Yes. Blackout lenses are fully opaque, so nothing of your natural colour shows through. The effect is identical on dark brown, hazel, green and blue eyes.
What is the difference between blackout and black sclera lenses?
A blackout lens covers the iris only, leaving the white of your eye visible. A black sclera lens covers the entire visible eye including the white, which produces a far more extreme, fully black look.
Are blackout contacts uncomfortable?
They are the same lens material and base curve as our other designs, so comfort is comparable. What differs is vision, not comfort: less light reaches the eye, which some people find tiring over long periods.
Can I get blackout contacts with prescription?
Where powers are offered they run from 0.00 to -8.00 - check the Power dropdown on the product page. In the US every contact lens, including plano 0.00, requires a valid prescription and a professional fitting.
When should I order blackout contacts for Halloween?
Orders are dispatched within 48 business hours and standard delivery takes about 16-26 days. Order by September 17 for standard delivery. If you order later, the $10.99 Express upgrade at checkout covers you into mid-October.
