Choosing a brown that actually shows

Two things decide the result, and neither is the colour name. The first is opacity: a dense print changes your eye colour, a translucent one tints it. The second is the limbal ring — a dark outer ring makes the colour read as your own iris rather than as a disc sitting on top of it. On dark brown eyes

Dark brown is the hardest base to print over, and it is the base most of this catalogue is designed around. Two things predict whether a lens will read on your eye: print density and the presence of a darker outer ring. Where a product page shows an on-eye photograph, judge from that rather than from the flat lens shot — a lens photographed against white always looks more saturated than it wears.
