Blue Cutout Crease 101: the Evening Look That Ate

Blue Cutout Crease 101: the Evening Look That Ate

Mojosee · Aug 11, 2026

Blue eyeshadow has a reputation problem: one wrong move and it's 1985. But blue looks don't collapse because of the color - they collapse because the pieces don't match. This one commits: crease carved in denim blue with a hard edge, silver inner corner, satin dress in the same family - and an aqua iris that closes the loop. One color, fully committed, reads expensive.

What the lens does for this look

The aqua iris is what closes the color loop. Crease, dress, necklace and eyes all live in one blue family, and that echo is what makes a one-color look expensive instead of flat. On a dark base eye the aqua also acts like a built-in brightener — the whole eye area lifts, like an inner-corner highlight that can't smudge off.

The look, another angle

Meet “The Denim Cut”

One color, executed with an edge - literally. The crease is carved in denim blue with a hard cutout line: color above, clean skin below, and that crisp boundary is the entire statement. A silver shimmer inner corner gives the eye its light point, the lower lash line wings down and out in the same blue to mirror the shape, and lashes stay deliberately minimal so nothing fluffy blurs the cut. The satin baby-blue dress and aquamarine pendant echo the lid, and the aqua iris closes the loop - on dark base eyes it doubles as a built-in brightener, lifting the whole eye area like an inner-corner highlight that can't smudge.

How to recreate it

  1. Map the cutout: lay tape from the outer corner toward the brow tail, or carve the line afterward with concealer on a flat brush
  2. Pack denim blue above the line; blend upward only - the lower edge must stay knife-clean
  3. Sharpen: run concealer along the cut with a flat brush to perfect the boundary
  4. Silver shimmer pressed into the inner third of the lid
  5. Lower lash line: wing the same blue down and out, connecting at the outer corner
  6. Lashes: curl and tint only - falsies would blur the edge you just built
  7. Lips: glossy nude, minimal
  8. Aqua lenses in - the iris is the final piece of the palette
